Default Night time temperature drop.

Apart from for breeding is there any benefit in a night time temperature drop for boas?

Well as there are few if any places inhabited by boas where the night and day time temperatures are constant, I would aim to achieve this anyway. However, now that most - if not all - herp keepers understand the idea of creating a thermal gradient and allowing the animals to seek out their own choice of temperature, it may not be as important as in the old days when people aimed to keep everything at constant temperature.

In a nutshell, I would say yes you should aim to have either or both a linear or temporal temperature gradient for all terrestrial species.

Ok thanks for reply. I have a good thermal gradient and I think when my boa is ready to go from her rub to a viv ill work out something for a night time drop.

i like keeping things as natural as possible or feasible. you never really know what impact something may have on an animal. stress hormones don't always seem obvious.
