Never heard of htem.

A bat eater is a retic crossed with a burmese. Very nice looking snakes but still expensive from what I have seen.

Would love a dwarf bat eater though.

What do you want to know?

They are the result of a retic to burm breeding.
They are expensive as they are hard to produce.
They are not sterile.

Some good pics on NERD (new england reptiles). Growth is between a retic and a burm, but more heavily bodied like a burm.

Personally I don't like hybrids, but each to their own.

have a look at bob clarks website for pictures. I have no idea on the average adult length of these snakes.

As reticulatus rightly states they are a fertile cross so you can slo pic up bateater x burms (ie burm x retic X burm) and bateater x retics.

While I am not a big fan of these crosses it has played on my mind as it'd be a very interesting challenge, and I keep both species. also be interesting to intorduce a co-dom retic mutation of some sort (like tiger or sunfire) and see what the end product is like.

Further to my above post..

the reason i'm curious to know how retic genes like tiger and sunfire will effect bateaters....

this is a "Jungle retic" (bateater x retic so 75% retic...

imagine the sunfire or tiger genes at work on this snake!

just to show the variation..

this is a Jungle Burm (bateater cross burm, rather than bateater x retic)

I've still not made my mind up about these crosses, but being a large python they interest me greatly

plus as far as i'm aware no one has yet fully explored the possibilities with the various burm and retic morphs, I think a few US breeders are working on the assumption that genes such as albino are not compatible across the two species, but thye are working on the assumption that thye have made aminals that are essentially double het albino (het reic albino and het burm albino, if this is true, in theroy breeding one of these snake back to either an albino burm or retic would prouce some albino 75% animals (jungle retic or jungle burm)

It's all very interesting, i've just not yet decided if I can go down the hybrid route (depsite how interesting it would be for me personally baring in mind the two species in question) as all of our breedign projects really are based on purity of species and local so far.

I'll stop boring you now, when large pythons are the subject i could go on and on and on.
