This may be the worlds dumbest question... but

Right, I've always been under the impression that snakes are very anti-social with each other once they are past hatchling size, and only met up with other snakes to breed.
However, I've just been reading some information saying that "a pair of female adult corn snakes would happily live together in a 4ft vivarium".

So, what's the word, is it ok to keep multiple females in a single viv, or was what I've always been under the impression of correct and that its one per viv?

Its fine to (though ideally it would be a female/female pair to prevent premature mating) depending on your personal stance. Alot of people agree or disagree. Personally i like to keep all my snakes seperate unless i want them to make sweet sweet love. I dont have any problem with other people keeping their snakes together though. Im sure you will get some more emotional responses

Fair enough, I thought I'd check as my corns will be needing vivs sooner rather than later, and if I can save a little space by housing a couple together then that'd be helpful

Whilst a damn good idea, I'm looking for fancy vivs with loads of plants and stuff to climb.

If and only if:

1. You maintain separate enclosures so that if there is stress or fighting (which CAN happen even in female/female pairs) you can separate them immediately.
2. You are completely familiar with each animal's individual behaviour and can separate them if one starts behaving abnormally.
3. You're absolutely sure (as in: You have seen this animal lay eggs) that you have females and not just "shy" males.
4. They've all been appropriately quarantined
5. You separate them for feeding and for a while afterwards to ensure no mistaken munchies bites

Personally? Just because someone CAN co-house successfully doesn't mean everyone WILL co-house successfully... and I wouldn't want to take the risk.

We have one adult corn in a display viv.
Everyone else will be in tubs on a rack.
