The way I measure it is if you put the tail of the snake in one corner and put it all the way along the inside it's head wouldn't touch the opposte corner. i.e. back wall: 2ft, side: 1ft, snake: 4ft / the tank is too small for snake. (by the way, I don't actually do this to snakes.)

I don't get this at all.
You should keep them in a minimum of a 3 x 1 x 1ft viv is what is generally told, yet it is also accepted if they're kept in a 50L RUB, which has an inside measurement of under 2 feet at 60.7cms, and 37cms, and 0.5 ft in height, making a 50L RUB having internal dimensions of 1.99 x 1.2 x 0.65 feet. Why?
