Default Been offered a free corn..

A mate of a mate has offered me a corn snake as he says he's kinda fed up with looking after it along with his many many fish tanks.

He says its probably a bit fiesty as he hasnt had it out for 3 months and it doesnt get much attention. Will it calm down and will it be too much as a first snake? Its about 6 years old too so quite a big'un.

Also i havent actually seen it but he's described it as a reddy pink body, bright white belly and yellow bits near its head?? Is that a common do you think?

Hi, corns are good starter snakes, easy to look after. Even though they can reach 6' in length, they are really thin snakes and have no strength. It shouldnt be too bad, even though it hasnt been handled in 3 months. All i can say is get it, as a bite from a corn isnt the end of the world

Bite from a corn is "cute" thats how I put it

The worst thing about a bite is the strike - it makes ya jump - but pain? You'll get more pain from a cat scratch, then again i've never had one clamp down on me.

compare to.. err... being attacked by velcro? they do have teeth, you do bleed a little but not much, its more the shock that gets you.

as to type.. white belly = motley or stripe.. many have yellow on the neck.. so that does not help a lot..

umm.. bring it along on the 16th and we can have a look and sex it if you want?

no,... you never have to pay attention to anyone unless they are sensible and respectful. any kid that thinks he's all that is mistaken and should be put in his place.

Cool

Hi, I would get the snake, if you handle them properly they will not bite.
Reasons for biting,
either they think you are food, (thats y i always show my snake my hand (so it nows i havent got any food))

or they feel threatened.

The bites are nothing...

(how do u do sigantures? do u have to write them, or it always apears at the bottom of post, or wat)??
