Unless it has changed much in the past few years i would not bother.
Or to put it another way, if you want to spend a few days with some likeminded people and the posibility that you may learn a thing or two then fine. If however you are serious about learning more about herps then spend that money at Amazon and get some very good books. Don't think the certificate is actually worth anything. |

I thought about doing this course a couple of years ago. I went to Birmingham to re-home a snake from them, and at the time I almost enrolled in the course, but I realised it was too far away for me to attend.
I think if you have no experince whatsoever, that could be a good way to start, but of course you can learn most yourself if you research, read, keep snakes, talk to experienced keepers, etc.

I completed the foundation correspondence course in herpetology but it took ages to come through and I could never get hold of anybody. A course that could have been done in a couple months took over 6 because of all of the waiting around. This is just my experience though. I got a distinction as the overall grade and was going to do the next level but after more trying (and failing) to get through to them I gave up. They didn't answer my emails either when I was enquiring about the next course !!!
Hope that helps

WASTE OF TIME.
you get no support, no FORMAL qualification at the end (ie it counts for nothing). theyu don't answer the phone, emails, support requests etc etc. Take months and months to get anytyhing to you/back to you or to feed back to you. Waste of time. A quick example: The assignment on care of burmese pythons.... Sami lost marks because she did not make a recommendation regarding what colour wood the vivarium should be made of! Sami was not pleased. Complete waste of money and her time and effort. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. DO NOT BOTHER. Mason |
