Anyway, like I say, it is hardly surprising that this goes on. That's (some people), for ya. People are cruel to other people, let alone bugs. Of course, there are some vids of predators eating other predators, in the wild, and these are fine, imo, as they are meeting under natural conditions. However, in most of the JBF that you see, one or both inverts is trying to get away, and only fight since they are in such a confined space, and feel threatened by the other. In their natural environs, while a camel spider might come into contact with a tarantula, imo, they might tend to avoid one another, and select prey that is easier for them to take down.

when you search "Japanese bug fights" theres a site with loads of "rounds" down the sides. http://www.japanesebugfights.com/
And I agree, the one with the leggy centipede thing I was talking about it was fighting a Jerusalem cricket and all it was trying to do was climb the sides while the cricket was nipping its legs off... Didn't see the whole thing but I'm guessing by the end it had none left. It's sick really, doesn't even give them a fighting chance.

That was a house centipede(sic), is that what you mean? Sometimes the fights are v loaded. There was one with an adult T and a tailess whip scorpion, and the latter was more a meal than anything. It's big in the Far East. But it goes on over here, as well, and worse, dog fights, etc..

Well, that is about all you can do, because until such a time that inverts are offered the same protection as other animals, then there is not a lot the law can do to act, even when they often should.
What is the official line in NOT granting them the same status as a gerbil or rat?

All it takes (if you feel strongly enough), is for someone to take the initiative, and make initial contact with the mentioned bodies. It would still go on. However, anyone caught involved in it would face a criminal record. How about that?

Indeed.
So here's a thought. Those of you who find this abhorent, and who feel that inverts should be protected by the RSPCA and SSPCA. How about constructing an e mail, sending it to them, and, once they reply, we can discuss their reply here. Anyone?
