Yes, however, in all reality, that is unworkable, and what is more, you would have to give a LOT of people a 'kicking'. After which it's YOU that would have the criminal record.

Is it not better to petition the relevant bodies to give inverts legal status?

Thanks

Yup.

Best way to not get caught is to not put such things out in the net!

PS - Or it may backfire, and YOU might be the one picking up teeth from the ground!!!

I get your drift but it does my head in big time. Cock fighting, dog fighting, badger baiting or fox hunting is illegal but spiders and other arachnids fighting or been cruel to arachnids don't even get covered by rspca or anyone like that.

Then, sir, take the initiative, write to the appropriate bodies (you will get a reply), and when that reply comes, put it on here.

More productive, non?

Steve

I sent an Email about animal cruelty to the guys who host that japanese bug fighting site, asking that it be shut down from animal cruelty but heres there reply.

" Unfortunately insects, arthropods, arachnids, and most invertebrates are not covered by the animal protection act."

Shame really

Then how would you feed your insectivorous invertebrate pets (and how would reptile keepers feed their insectivorous lizards) - if inverts *as a whole* were accorded legal status under the animal protection act?

Or are you thinking of just petitioning for arachnids and mantids?

Nice try, but not surprised.

They are, after all, the one's hosting the site.

Also, to really do anything about bug fights in Japan, well, that is really n issue for the people of Japan to address (if they wish).

The only way to address it here, would be to give recognised status to inverts, and I am not sure that is going to be problem free..
