Default Brachy emilia

Someone kindly gave me one of these the other day. It is only about the size of (approx), my thumbnail right now, so I am guessing it is clearly not full size?

I've kept/keep T's before, but never one of these, and never something that small.

I didn't really know what to do with it, so I just popped it in a plastic viv, with about 3" of eco earth and orchid bark chip things, and some hides.

It ate a small cricket that I gave it, right away, really fast it was too, and that was quite good, since I never seem to have seen my other (larger) spiders ever eat.

Anyway, any advice that anyone can give me, on top of what I have just told you, would be well appreciated.

Congrats on your new addition

At that size I would put it into a small tub (smaller than a cricket tub) with a hide and mist once a week for moisture to drink. Feed twice a week and enjoy watching him/her grow.

My B. emilia is the most docile spider I have and very beautiful too. They get to around 5 - 6 inches legspan but is a slow grower. The females can live for many, many years.

What's it's common name? Is it a Mexican type, something like that?

Thanks.

It has burrowed a large hole in the sub, right down to the bottom of the viv, overnight, it would seem.

I didn't buy it.

What happened is that I bought two Egyptian Predator Beetles from this chap on Bug Nation (good guy), and since he noticed that one had a leg missing, he included this in for free.

Which is nice.

I have seen these B.Emlia referred to as Mexican Painted Red Leg, so i think they go under a few names, but whatever the correct name is they are a really nice spider to have in your collection.
