I'm getting a little better with the scientific names, at least on the T's im interested in!! I'm sure over time more and more will sink in.
They sound great in my head as well but im sure i can't pronounce any of them right ![]()

i happen to fully agree with GRB on this, common names only lead to mistakes and proper fuck ups.
Its important for people to use scientific names as its a global language, Latin and ancient greek are dead languages (except for science), which means its perfect for using, as through times languages that are alive and still used will evolve with time. I personally am a total n00b to using common names. Just treat the scientific names as human style family names, ie im Cameron strike, family name is second. With nomenclature, classification, the family name (actually genus) is infront, so Avicularia versicolor.... Avicularia is the family name (Actually genus) whilst versicolor is the individual. Hence you have the genus Avicularia which contains Avicularia avicularia, Avicularia purpurea + loads more. hope that helps?

I do prefer scientific names.
I was rubbish at them at 1st, to be honest I'm still not that good! but it does start to sink in after a while, some of my spiders i dont actually know the common name!!
