Default ok for a African mantid nymph?

here is my improvide housing for a mantid nymph. just wanted to know if it was adequate size? it will be either 2nd or 3rd instar. cheers!








my camera doesnt know the meaning of small pics (or rather i dont)

wasnt planning on using fruit flies =P, I have VERY small locusts which i am giving to my spiderling, thought i would use those.

It needs a moulting platform... ideally a mesh top.

aah right, yea thats improtant, do you suggest just attacthing some mesh to the perspex? would the mantis not just use the hanging twig?

the box is a small perspex box that my dads model cars come in, i wasnt sure whether or not i should switch to a sweet jar of some sort instead?

measurements Hieght 8 cm width 6cm length 4.5cm. i have a sneaking suspicion that its too small.

my mantids all live / lived in plastic cups with mesh lids until outgrown ,
then on into mesh topped sweet jars

As mentioned the easiest option all round is a cup/jar/tub etc with mesh top (tights) and a feeding hole - just pull the sponge out and stick the food in. Height wise you want about 3 times the mantids height.
