Default Help me choose a new spider :)

Hey

I would like some help and advice for choosing a new spider.
I would like the following:

Looks Pretty - preferably an interesting colour, rather than patterend like the ornamentals
Not aggressive - i'm not expirienced, and I would hate to have a spider than tries to go for me every time I open the cage
Cheap - i have little monies!!!
Fast growing - I <3 slings but want adult soon

Any ideas? The red-knee looks amazing, but too slow growing I find. The Colbat Blue looks amazing, but agressive. Babboos scare the shit out of me.

How colourful do they have to be?

Euathlus sp. "Red": Chile Flame (Euathlus sp. "Red") Suppliers of Arachnids and other quality Invertebrates

Mine seems to be growing fairly quick.

@ Moosmoo ~ Any chance you have a few pics? I had a quick look on google but couldn't find a decent set or a caresheet

@ Simon ~ I was looking at them earlier, looks amazing. Really nice. Only problem is that it is wild-caught. Im never too sure that WC will be tame enough, and morally is it right to take them like that. But so far, that is definatly what i will go for I really do like the redness of it!

With slings I don't think you'd see a difference behavioural wise over CB. I'm not sure about the moral issue, to be honest it's not something I've really thought about but they've already been caught now so it's too late, they won't be put back in the wild so you may as well do your best to give them a good home.

The avic versicolor does look very sexy actually, atleast whilst its a sling. Not so much as an adult. According to a reports they are skittish and fast, but not known for agression. Is this true? Hows ur expiriences?

Do you know where you could buy it from? Are they expensive?

They are skittish but it depends how you are with it. I find if im very slow and take my time with it, I can easily put a cricket in, drop a bit of water in for humidity, and close it all back up. As they are arboreal they are very good climbers and one time i was a little too quick and it shot out, climbed up my hand and jumped onto another box where i managed to convince it to go back into its house.

ours is only tiny, legspan about the size of a 1p coin. as they grow they change colour, from blues to pinks and also greens i believe.

ours has never reared up or acted at all threatening, due to their speed and arboreal tendancies i think they are more of a flight than fight animal

Also ive seen pictures of adults but they may not show it in its true glory!

our sling cost us 11.50, which I happened to have exactly in my pocket for this spontaneous purchase lol
