Default Please dont yell at me :(

At Basildon, I bought 3 giant red velvet mites because I've seen pictures of them, think theyre the most beautiful invert in existence and we don't get any funky inverts like these around here..

Now, my dilemma *awaits the imminent hell fire*

I thought they ate ritting vegetation, but Lucifart linked me to a page saying that they drank blood :s

I put it to you, good forumites of RFUKland....What the bloomin 'eck am I meant to be feeding these guys!

Do I continue with the vegetation? Do I offer myself for sacrifice? Or something completely different?

Can't have little Susie, Cogsworth and Ermentrude going hungry

Thank you kind citizens! TTFN

i really really really doubt they drink blood, however i thought they fed on tiny insects and their eggs n such, no idea though.

we bought some also, and we were told micro crickets and leaf litter for the micro organisms and they might breed if given a waxworm to parasitize

Blood is not correct...technically.

Most mites suck body fluids - be it plant, animal or fungi. In that regard, they do eat blood I guess, but you dont need to offer yourself.

Just let a small colony of springtails, woodlice etc develop with the crix and everything should be fine. I dont think they are sort of thing to need hand feeding!

if they drank blood (dont know a thing about them sorry but) you could go to the local butcher and ask for blood there
