new pet shop opened in hempstead
just up the road from capstone park and ski centre, in elm court. it's called ark pet + reptile centre. its actually an extention of shop they have inside the garden centre.
but yeh i went in and had a butchers yesterday. they have loads of scorps and spids atm! not the usual chile roses or anything either. they hav a few starburst baboons, a orange babboon, some whip scorpions, huntsman spiders aswell. they got a few flat rock scorps, isreali golds and emperors, along with red claws n such. all reasonably priced at £12.99 each.
they got a s**tload of reptiles and amphibs in aswell. i was talkin to the people in there n they really seemed to know wat they were doing.
he was at least telling people that the baboons were pretty agressive and not worth getting unless you know what you're doing, and the same goes for the huntsmans. considering my experience of shops selling spiders is that a togo starburst is a good beginner species, i was quite impressed by these guys.
he also recommended me a place with a better stock and lots of knowledge than he, being vanishing world in canterbury.
all in all, i give it a 7/8 out of 10. there was only 2 things that got me, wich is that the inverts were still in cricket tubs when i arrived, but thats fair enuff. all being kept warm inside a large viv.
also some map turtles i saw were in a bit of a small tank. was all heated and filtered though, looked clean (the animals had been in for a few days already)
