Default Eurycantha calcarata

Can these guys glimb glass?

looking to keep a few of them in a 3ft x 1ft tank with no lid for ventellation , but will have the fashion one out of wood if they can climb.

also are they ok on eco-earth.

most of the caresheets ive found seem pretty basic and i just want to make sure that these guys get good care.

Also does anyone know how long Black Beauty's take to hatch? do they need to be kept dry or humid or what?

seems my google skills have abandoned me ..............

In my experience most stick insects can climb glass as long as its slightly dirty. Newly shined glass cant be climbed by most inverts.

I bet they could climb it, I wouldn't risk it to be honest. I'm sure eco - earth would be fine.

Hi, you say a 3x1 ft tank. The tank will need to have the 3ft in height as these are big guys. And yes they will get out if you don't enclose them. I have no experience of this species myself but as far as I know they are the ones with the sharp defensive thorns on the back legs which has always put me off keeping them.
Apart from that they are apparently easy to keep but are capable of hurting.

In regards to the black beautys, I keep mine on moist tissue paper and spray it every other day, theyre kept at room temperature away from draughts and they hatch like crazy

Yeh well I'm a wuss and don't like things that can hurt you.
I forgot you were asking about black beauties. These I do keep and the eggs take about 5mths to hatch and the nymphs are fairly slow growing. A nice small chunky species with yellow eyes and as they mature lovely big red 'lips'. These can spray but I've never known them to. I have mine in a net cage and feed them privet, which as far as I know is the only food plant they will take although some people claim that they will nibble on apple/pear skin.

I used to keep these, you'd have to be a bit of an idiot to put your finger in between it's back leg.
