She was sexed through a shedded skin. Males are by far the most dangerous. I know it is usually females that are bigger and more toxic, but with the SFW the male is by FAR more toxic.

No, I dont milk the venom, I think it needs to be done in a lab with strickt rules. I just use 12" tongs like I do with all my spids. The SFW is pretty predictable tbh, the brazilian wandering spider is more of a challange. I am always on my toes with that (unsexed). Widows are easier than most T's, but not to be messed with as they are still very dangerous

I have heard Widows are perhaps the calmest DWA spiddie. I was watching a documentary on Australias most toxic which was very interesting. They referred to the SFW as a type of trap door tarantula rather than a true spider which confused me as i thought trap doors were true spiders not Ts.

It depends what you class as a T. spme class them as having fangs that point downwars rather then sidewards like trues. if you use this theory , then yes, they are T's. I personally dont class them as T's

Interesting you learn a new thing everyday. I never knew there was a difference in fangs in true spiders and Ts. Wheres a house spider when u want one lols. So are SFW generally aggressive or do they have to be provoked.

ps sorry about all the quessies i only really know Ts and after watching this documentary it got my brain thinking lols.

in my experience they to be very simular to trapdoors. They are aggressive if you disturb them, but otherwise they aint. However, a male SFW ( the most toxic) can be very aggressive if you disturb them when 'looking for a female'. They temd to rear up and go in threat pose as soon as they know you are there. The male is the one you need to watch out for as he has bigger fangs and is far mor toxic. If I have a male, I tend to rehouse him is a tank that is far to big, such as a 1ft RUB as it makes things easier.
