Default Got the T now the house...

Hey all.
I have had so much help from these boards its been great...
I have found some to buy a Chile Rose off for my daughter i now need to buy its house/tank or whatever it maybe called ive not got that far yet sorry lol.

I have found a website that sells a adult starter kit for around £45.00
It is here...
Adult Tarantula Starter Kit Suppliers of Arachnids and other quality Invertebrates

Is this everything i'll need and is it a good one??
Also i'm guessing i'll need food?? Do i buy in bulk and what do i do with the live food once it arrives?? I mean do i just keep it in a pot and my daughter just takes one out to feed her T??
Sorry if i sound a bit dumb i really dont have a clue...
Ive read up quite a bit but it's a lot to take in and alot of the time i dont know whether sites are just trying to get you to buy everything!
Thanks in advance :o)

Yh that setup looks ok for a chili rose. I wouldnt buy lots of live food in one go as they dont eat much anyway. Just make sure the crickets or whatever it is you are feeding it is fed. Its a good idea to buy a small critter keeper or similar small tub to keep livefood in.

yeah don't expect it to eat that much, especially a Chili rose they sometimes have a habit of fasting for quite a while.

My GBB was eating a locust every 5 days but for the last three weeks she's just struck at it and let it go.. apparently they just don't eat for a while sometimes, it looks fat enough.

The starter kit is fine but it can be done cheaper...

You'l need a tank (£7.99)...

VIVA-PLASTIC REPTILE/SPIDER/INSECT TANK on eBay, also, Reptiles, Pet Supplies, Home Garden (end time 29-Jan-09 14:57:50 GMT)

You'l need substrate (£2.40)...

Terra Spider - Coco Fibre Substrate for Tarantulas Suppliers of Arachnids and other quality Invertebrates

You'l need a hide...

Terracotta plant pots are great to use. You can find them in B&Q and they cost less then £1.

you'l need a water bowl...

Plastic milk carton lid! About 50p!

You wont need additional heat, unless you have a particulary cold house, as Grammostola rosea do fine at room temp. You'l need live food and a tub of crickets in my local retile shop costs £1.99. Just pop some apple or lettuce in for the crickets and that will keep them happy and fed. Rosea are fairly slow growing so dont eat that much, a tub of crickets will last you a month at least!

With regards to my examples above, that would create a perfect home for a rosea, for around £11.40. Even if you wanted a proper hide and water bowl it would still cost less then £20.

Whatever you do, best of luck with it.

do crickets live longer then locusts usually? I buy locusts and feed them but after a fortnight or so they seem to start dieing, no idea why.

Maybe adult crickets would be a better idea.
