Emps are good starters are they are generally quite docile and slow, unfortunately they also have a tendency to be pet holes.

Emps like humidity and plenty of substrate to burrow in. Google for a care sheet and you'll find their specific requirements.

Desert Hairy Scorpions are also recommended, I don't have any experience with these but from what I've read they are a bit fierier than emps but you see them a lot more.

Despite never seeing them, emps are still great. I like looking in during the day and seeing what burrow alterations they've made during the night
And they are very cute

They are all beauties! but i have to say you might not see them often as they tend to burrow a lot and come out at night, they are Majestic and beautiful but a bit boring!! I will get some myself, but later. You can check it on google or "how to care for your emperor scorpion" There is plenty of information out there.
I started with a Spadix, its a desert species, love it! and this scorp will use its telson to kill its prey, the Emp on the other hand will probably not or rarely, it will use its claws instead whitch are powerful.
It is said that it is a good begginer scorp simply because its hardy, easy to care for and medically insignificant but i think any scorpion can be a begginer scorpion, if you decided to care for one, you will do it to the best of your ability whitchever scorp it is. Do some research first!
