Default Need identification for this 0.5cm mantid nymph

He's so tiny but has already eaten a ant his size. Extremely cute too! Any ideas on what species he is? He's orange all over.

I'm not sure about how dangerous ants are, because I've never heard of it. I'm not saying it's not true though. I'll take note. It will be tough finding anything other than ants which is small enough for this guy though. I'm in Singapore so the colour isn't much of a surprise. How often do these nymphs moult? I'm guessing he's a first instar or younger.

i dont think individual ants pose much of a danger. yes some can bite and sting but mantids can deal with this. of course, a whole group of them is a different story, but fed individually there shouldn't be much problem. i have no idea about genus or species but a young instar mantis in it's natural climate, shouldnt be more than a couple of weeks between moults i would imagine. of course, this is assuming you keep it well fed.

Many 1st instar mantis species will moult whithin 2 weeks of hatching. Good luck with him/her

I have heard of a red species of statillia that resides in that area, could be that?

I don't know what species of mantid that is but wow, very striking (no pun intended) indeed.
