I've had 4 now and never had the pleasure.....

I've had -

Mexican Red Rump
Salmon Pink Bird Eater
Goliath
Indian Ornimental

The Goliath and the Salmon tried but never managed it.

CHRIST THEY HURT SO BAD !!!!

They really sucked balls.

swelled up to almost elephantine size and itched like mad for around 4 or 5 days. felt silly for being so complacent

Well, it cant be worse than a room ful;l of sub adult, and adult Theraphosas.. i would hate to think how many hairs the lay around to molt on *shudders* The males arent too bad but the females, whoa!
i had 3 molt in 1 in feb, 1 in march, 1 in april... iv been itching for months, lol.
the swelling sounds a bit nasty. but you say youv been bitten by a haplo. Thats a 'supposed' hospitalising genus. Either dry, or good immunity.. or maybe the haplos reputation is wrong. Dont get me wrong i bet it was horrid
