Question G.Rosea funny bald patch...

I know youve probably heard this thread alot before
I'm worried about my G.Rosea, Incy the second! I bought her about 4/5 months ago and shes had this bald patch ever since, it's got alot bigger looks like is spread. Is it just a molt or something else? Any input would be great

Probably just an upcoming moult.

Or maybe you have disturbed her, she has got annoyed and flicked urticating hairs?

No shes sat ontop of my snakes viv upstairs. The only time I go near her is to water and feed her. I thought maybe molt (due to large abdomen) but shes had this bald patch since i got her and its increasing in size....

looks for sure like an upcoming moult! has she been "depressed"? refusing food etc? the fact the patch is dark also indicates the moult should occur quite soon too!

My G.rosea is beginning to get a patch on her bum too, n she is due a moult soon so happy days!

As swiss said tho bald patches can occur due to the T flicking the urticating hairs from its abdomen, but if you know ur T to be timid etc and never see it flicking then its most likely a moult! Just wait for her to flip over and maybe you'l get to see the magic!

g.rosea/ g.perteri dont flick hairs ( well never seen mine flik'n hairs) and i have 6, so if all this guy is doing is feeding and watering it would have no reason to flick hairs ( even though this spicies doesnt flick hairs, as far as i know) so its forborably due to getting ready to molt

All Theraphosinae tarantulas flick hairs, roseas are just disinclined to do so.

She been eating great infact if anything she eats too much! I gave her 2 crickets 8 days ago and 5 days later she had 2 huge meal worms! None of my other T's have had a bald patch for this long before! Shes normally quite docile, very calm and collected, I dont think its her kicking hairs. I will wait a while longer and if nothing then i'll post again, hopefuly she will molt soon. Thanks guys

Is it possible that she is rubbing it when coming in or out of her hide? The patch is a bit too high up the abdomen to be the usual urticating hair kicking baldness. Rosea's dont often do the hair kicking behaviour but its not unheard of.

Could she be wild caught? If so it could be a sign of internal parasite. Just keep an eye on it and see what happens.

She looks to be healthy even with her baldy bit

Pokies are Old World T's and I don't believe that Old World T's posses urticating hairs...they rely more on their venom. Hence, why Old World T's tend to be more aggressive that New World T's. King Baboons, Cobalt Blues, OBT, etc...

G.rosea are New World and CERTAINLY posses urticating hairs. Whether or not they use them is up to the indivisual T.

Just because they generally might not flick hairs doesn't mean they can't...or won't.
