Default Dune Scorpion

Sminigerus mesaensis (Dune Scorpion)

Anyone on here keep these? Have read they are fast and aggressive. Sound like my sorta thing. Plus they look amazing.

Could anyone give any useful tips / post pics of setups / anything else I will find interesting.

Never been much of a Scorpion person, then again I was never really much of a spider person

Cheers

I've got a few adults I picked up from the Maidstone show, they are pretty cool.

Quite quick when they want to be and they can climb pretty well, mine when I open the tubs they try to climb out lol.

These are obviously a desert species and you need to keep them pretty dry, I was using a water bowl but took it out.. As desert species can get mycosis easily from humidity, so they get all the water they need from thei food.

Stunning scorps though.. Some pics of mine

Il be getting a few of these next week i have been reading that you do not have to keep them on sand but you can also keep them on coir as long as it is dry is this right but i think sand would look alot better myself

i have one, my fave scorpion.

put it in a large container because they love to scutter about, and they are great to watch at night!

i use playsand that has been dampened then left to dry out, this way the burrows don't collapse.

mine tends to just burrow under a rock.

have fun definately recommended

What sorta size set up would you recommend?

Is additional heat needed? Im guessing it is as they are a desert species.

And how deep would you recommend the substrate to be?

Great pics PRS, thanks.

Mine are in those tubs from Lee(TSS)..

3 Ltr Hatchling stackable boxes Suppliers of Arachnids and other quality Invertebrates

Few inches of substrate maybe, I dont have any additional heat with mine but they are in my invert room and its always pretty damn hot in there.
