Default Heres Florence

Poor lassy. She arrived to me last week in the most amazing packaging, but she must of got dehydrated whilst in the post, and over the weekend she became ill. Acting like a drunk - Clumsy, not alert, fell on her back a few times and wouldnt right herself, very subdued so much so you could of handled her.

She's been in ICU for a few days, and has gone from this (a mess, clumsy legs curling under, and not alert)

To this - taken this morning ( no leg curling, alert, shes been webbing the tub)

I think in future, I will now place all large spids in an ICU unit upon arrival so they can rehydrate themselves before going into their new homes

Thanks guys, I was awfully worried, been getting up through the night to check on her. Shes got an appointment to see Bruce Maclean tomorrow, so providing I get my motorbike back today, she'll be going to see him. Before anyone cracks jokes about vets, or saying its not worth it, I value my animals equally. I wouldnt not take her to a vet just because she is a spider, and perhaps deemed not worth it on a monetry value. If you had a Boa for example, you would still take it to a vet if it was ill. Doesnt matter how much the animal is worth, a life is a life at the end of the day. And alot of people dont realise that tarantulas can actually be treated to an extent.

I always offer my new arrivals a drink. They get very dehydrated in the post, I nearly lost my mm pulchra when he arrived back from loan curled and completely dis-orientated. He drank and drank and I watched him as he improved by the second it seemed. You never know as well, when they had their last drink before they are posted.

Here's hoping the spider makes a full recovery. It's so refreshing to see someone that cares about their pets past monetary values. When I first joined here I was galled to see some users speak so casually about animals being "not worth it" etc.

Thanks hun, its nice to see someone who agrees with me. I love all my animals to bits, and I would do anything to help them
