Default Advice re: T...

I posted a message a few days ago about my newly purchased (from ERAC expo) Chaetopelma Gracile laying on it's back for almost 24 hours then righting itself, then rearing up at me when I went near it.
It is now completely unresponsive, inactive but still alive.
What may be wrong, and what can I do? Dehydration?

Sounds like it may be trying to moult...maybe increase humidity in the enclosure and leave it well alone.

Im going to say it does not sound like a moult. A T would not be on its back for 24hours then get back up. In that time it would have more than likely be partially through a moult.

I'd get an ICU set up for it. Get a tub, line it with tissue, and lightly mist it, and add a nice large but not deep water bowl. Leave it in there over night

I'm extremely sorry to believe that this little one has given up... It hasn't moved a mm since I put it in ICU yesterday eve.
It seems to have several of what I can only presume are mites - little white dots - on it's body, which weren't there yesterday.

Sorry for sounding stupid... but how do I know if it's definitely dead? It's legs aren't curled under itself, which is the only thing I've read about re: death.

This will be my first death if so, made even worse by the fact I haven't a clue what happened

Sadly it just happens sometimes and we don't always know why. If it doesn't twitch when you blow on it then chances are it's dead, and the mites will have moved in to do their job of cleaning up decaying matter.

Sorry about your spider
