Can't remember why you had a need to put your pokie into an ICU but the idea of this is to provide a clean controlled environment. Feeding a pinkie into this environment seems in total contrast to that. My advice would be to remove your pokie asap or at the very least the tissue from your ICU. The remains from uneaten invertebrate food can attract mites and fungus but the remains from rodents is far more likely to cause bacterial issues - the very thing you don't want in an ICU.
Sorry if that sounds harsh.

You should question the logic in feeding rodents to tarantula - how many mice are likely to be found up tree? And the debate is out on regularly feeding rodents to tarantula.

The reason she was put in ICU because she happened to have taken a turn for the worse. She was falling down, falling over herself and fell on her back several times, legs curling under. She was VERY lethargic, so much so you could have picked her up and she would not have reacted!

She is being moved later on today. She was fed one pinky last night to boost her, she was a bit on the thin side after a recent moult, and given the fact she looked like she was going to die the other day, I didnt see a problem. She would NEVER be fed a pinky under any other circumstance. So not really sure why you mentioned feeding rodents regularly, because thats something I NEVER DO!

Sheesh

The ICU was clean up till last night thank you very much. I cant help she made a mess while I slept

Whoawhoawhoa...

Calm it. It was just advice, given to help. In this case, it's not relevant, but this is a forum and the advice may help another reader passing through...

ANYWAYS

Personally, I do occasionally give some of my larger spiders a pinkie mouse (usually the P.chordatus) but only when my girlfriends lizards don't accept one. Rather than waste it, it's a treat. It is extremely rare, once every 3-4 months, and with a P.chordatus, I don't see much of a problem as they do feed on vertebrae in the wild. I consider it an experiment if nothing else.

More research needs to be done!

I didnt mean to snap. Im sorry, just been stressed with worrying about her these past few days. She did look as though she was going to die.

I removed the remains this morning after the pictures were taken, so its not like theyve been left in with her.
