Hiya! Just a quick reply:

It is actually Scolopendra subspinipes, not subsnipes. but the mistake is not from you, it is actually advertised as subsnipes on bugzuk...
I agree that the animals advertised on the site are cheap. £15 for a Scolopendra subspinipes (dehaani according to the picture?) is an excellent price! This very subspecies is not exactly a beginner animal, as they tend to pack a good punch, to be fast and rather aggressive (even to centipede standards...). As a starter, I would probably go for some flag tail centipedes (Alipes sp.). They are stunning animals, usually less aggressive than the common Scolopendra found in the trade (spinosissima is supposed to be mental). I never ordered from bugzuk. I am just a bit surprised to see a reference to a certain malaysian Scolopendra purpuraceps. Anybody knows anything about these specimens, which were on sale in 2004/2005? It's just that I've never come across a paper mentioning this species and I can't find any info on Chilobase either... so I am wondering!

cheers!

Mika
