Default advice on a chillie rose Tarantulas web cocoon

hi, now im a total novice so havent much of a clue. i got a chillie rose t last month came with complete set up from pet shop. its quite a big guy eating fine etc. well yesterday it started spinning a web- it has a half coconut shell stood upright in its tank and its covered the entrance of the shell and floor sealing itself inside. every hour i look in and its getting harder and harder to make the spider out through this web cocoon. does anyone have any idea why its doing it? is it gonna die/molt/have babies! ahhh help!

mine did a few weeks ago she layed down like a carpit of web on the floor of her cave and she moulted so i think that might be it. also sometime's i have read that if they dont feel safe they do this as well but i would say moult first.

if it's been eating until now then it could well be an egg sac rather than a moult. Chances are it's a wild caught adult, and somebody else on here had theirs lay a sac just the other day.

This is likely a sign of an impending moult, however the fact it has been eaten so recently is strange. Normally they won't eat for several weeks or months leading up to a moult. Could be going into pre-moult I guess, and preparing the ground so to speak.

Or, another less likely option is that the Chile is going into a brumation period. My N.coloratovillosus did this last year, webbed up the whole entrance to its hide with silk and a plug of earth and we didn't see it for sixth months. Emerged having lost no weight nor had it moulted. But, considering it is a Chile Rose and they are the most adaptable spp. then I wouldn't count on this.

Either way, don't disturb it.You can keep putting food in once a week if you so desire, but I don't think it is necessary. Just make sure you keep the conditions right and make sure water is available at all times.

Chile roses have a habit of eating their egg sacs anyway, so don't panic just yet, as it may well be gone in a couple of days.

just let mummy look after them (if she doesn't eat them) and then when they are about to hatch make sure none of em can escape and look for some buyers in the mean time that are looking for some sort of bulk buy. its gna b hard trying to flog off sum chilean rose slings look at videos on youtube make sure its not damp in the enclosure at all no water in the substrate only a water bowl.

Unless she is kept almost perfectly peaceful with no disturbances, chances are she will destroy it anyway.

Best thing is to just leave it with her, unless you know what you're doing. In which case, you couldn't touch it for a while anyway.
