Default H.gigas

Now I'm planning on getting one of these next year and have been researching my housing options for the T.

She will hopefully be housed in a 90cm x 45cm x 60 cm, with a half land, half water set-up.

she will have about 12" deep substrate and the same depth water in the other half.

The water and substrate will be separated using a piece of acrylic siliconed along the middle.

The water area will have access stones / ramp to allow Mrs T in and out and will also house live fish, along with a fully functioning mini waterfall system pumping the water from the tank up to the top of the waterfall and into the tank again ( allowing the water to be oxygenated ).

Hopefully I will be able to install a mini webcam in one of the top corners allowing videos to be taken of her if / when she goes fishing.

Now this is by no means going to be an easy feat but hopefully will give me something to do over the winter in my days off.

So basically looking for comments / ideas / criticism / opinions on the whole idea.

The silconing of the acrylic is a good idea as you can put water straight into other end then which means you can watch her underwater
I like this idea a lot
The stones in mine have also helped cricks to escape the water so is win-win

Like said, it aint gonna be easy, or cheap for that matter. But I am willing to pay for the "ultimate" set-up which hopefully will allow other users to view the T hopefully displaying it's natural habits and tendencies.

I might get an underwater webcam for in the "pond" section allowing an above and below view of the T fishing.

Yeah, I know they are burrowers but I think it will be worth spending the time and money creating this set-up as If she does go fishing, I think it will be really interesting to watch / see.

lmao, I have fish to look at anyway, but yeah.

I have just been checking out prices and maybe the cam won't be available until a while after, or maybe just one for overview watching

It will be worth it, don't get me wrong. I will be doing the same as you know but i just thought i would warn you about how little you would see it.
Maybe a cam in burrow would be a good idea if you are putting in cams. I have to get OH to lift my enclosure so i can look underto check on her if i get worried lol
