Default Segestria florentina (I think)

My husband brought this home from work to show me yesterday. We get a lot of female S. florentina living in the brickwork and air bricks of our house, but I'd never seen a mature male before, and I think this probably was one. Ugly little git and quite nasty too!

Are these the ones that keep their front 4 legs on different points of their web and wait in ambush in cracks of bricks? I really want to see one of these. Always on the look out.

yep, they have radiating lines coming out from the web burrow. If you live on Hayling, I'm sure you must have some, I've got dozens of them here! Heres a big female we photographed a while ago.

I'm probably just not looking hard enough. I think I have seen one a few years back (when spiders didn't really interest me ) in Havant. I might go out in the glorious weather today to find one.
