Default S. lineola

I got four S. lineola off Ozgi at the start of the week. This is my first time keeping mantids and have to say they're pretty cool. Think they're all L3. Very nice guy to deal with. Was only suppose to be two but due to problems outside of his control I was very kindly offered an extra two.

Unfortunately one decided that while getting thrown about by Royal Mail it would be the perfect time to moult. She got to me half way through and looked in a pretty bad way. She did finish her moult and hung on for a couple more days but didn't make it.

The other three, however, are all doing great and I have had loadsa fun watching them hunt down fruit flies and take little swipes at me when I try and get them back into their set ups.

So yeah, the main reason of this thread was just to tell everyone this is the first experience I've had with fruit flies and... I HATE FRUIT FLIES!!

£16! Don't you just love the classifieds on here.

Would definitely recommend. They're fairly active and have great little personalities about them.

yeah I saw them a few weeks ago and was sure I saw he'd run out so was gutted!! We had a chinese mantis a while ago and she lived for 8 months which was pretty amazing!!!
I'm a bit nervous about the fruit flies though.... still they grow quickish so it won't be for long :P

Just chuck the fruit flies in the fridge for a minute or two. Slows them right down, but they still move enough to catch the mantids attention. Still I can't wait till I can move onto bigger prey.
