Many years ago, I had to produce a couple of sets of pinned insects as part of my zoology degree.
I got the glass display cases from a museum and the pins from a scientific equipment supplier - again I am sure a museum or university or similar should be able to point you in the right direction.

How do you preserve them? or do you get someone to do it for you?

I tried to get info on preserving microscope samples and was told not to bother as the stuff is pretty much illegal to buy

my uncle used to work at natural history and was really into it, so (apart from having some of his collection) he also has some of the chemical which kills them when you pu the invert in a glass jar with the gas.

however all you have to do with arthropods and arachnids is just as soon as their dead pin them down and they should be ok

its only vertebrae i think which need the liquid.

For spiders, you need to slit the underside of the abdomen and scrape out the contents, then stuff the abdominal cavity with cotton wool before pinning and drying. It's a bit disgusting though.

I did it with a large Haplopelma that died and it doesn't stink at all. The legs and carapace seem to dry out anyway, but the abdomen is full of hemolymph and spider crap, and I guess that's what would stink if it was left in there.
