Default silent crickets which are clearly NOT silent.

always use silent crickets as the first and last time i bought black ones, i just couldn't sleep and ended up killing, or letting the rest escape.

But do you buy silent crickets to find that you get those pesky ones clearly trying to impress those dead ladies which create an awful smell and the buggers just don't get the hint that they are dead?

or am i on my own on this one?

I don't know, mainly because I have very little idea what you mean

But if they're bothering you, just bung the adult males into a tank with a greedy spider

Do you mean the chirping at night? That used to do my head in so I just let my colony starve so they'd shut up. I buy them in tubs again now and they all get eaten before they get a chance to mature and start keeping me awake again

in short, i buy silent crickets just because they are labelled silent, but they some aren't...Well the ones i buy aren't!

and i can't exactly feed them to my tarantulas, they just don't eat heavily, i have lost count of how many dead crix i have collected from the b.smithi's viv. Aswell as having a g.rosea who loves to fast for 2 months at a time...

but im thinking of investing in a GBB as i have heard they are greedy.

Any "chirpers" get thrown over the fence into my neighbour's garden

Just keep them in a room away from your bed!
My crix last about 2-3 months on average so my T's never go hungry. I look after my crix with clean keepers and egg boxes, fresh food and bug gel every few days. I believe they should enjoy what is left of thier lives!!

How do you know which ones are chirping though?

The solution is simple Mike... buy more spiders so your cricket supply depletes faster
