Default Malcom laid an ooth!!

Our (adult) Peacock Mantis laid an ooth, I'm guessing we have a female and NOT a male

Is it normal for them to lay ooths even if they're never mated up??

Which species do that? Do they always lay fertile ooths?

Malcolm the female mantid!

Only very few species are parthenogenetic, and this doesn't mean that every ooth they lay will hatch either. Brunneria borealis is one of them.

They do tend to sit and watch over it for a few days. I like the way you still call it "him"

Malcom the mantid isnt as good as Boris the leopard gecko. She laid two eggs (I knew she was a girl though!, the name stuck!)
