Default question on exo terra

i know your probably sick of this but what can go into a exo terra 30x30x45

my sons crestie is due to move into a new home and he is keen to put the empty space to good use.
he is looking at either an insect or a frog of some sort.

he is 14 so past the stick insect stage. his face when i suggested them was great.

any ideas?

im a lizard keeper so the only insects i know about are my feeder insects lol

Avicularia species (pink-toed tarantulas) would make good use of that height being primarily arboreal, spending most of their time off the floor. They are very attractive, docile and handleable if not disturbed too regularly. Need a fairly humid environment so regular spraying is important.

Also praying mantids; again regular spraying is very important as prone to dehydration but great fun to watch feeding and some extremely beautiful species on offer.

Hope that helps

Dont waste an exo terra on a mantid, thats what sweet jars are for, get a T in there.

p.s sphodromantis and Hierodula sp are good for beginners

Put a GBB in there. They will make use of the space. Some tall decoration and a few inch of dry substrate and watch it eventually fill the enclosure with nifty webbing. Nice spiders, interesting.

Copied from an old thread on here that google dragged up:

As for D.diadema (Amblypygi) they need a tall enclosue with pieces of bark for them to hide behind during the day, they moult like a mantis or stick insects in that they moult hanging upside down, which they usually do from either the cieling of the enclosure or the bark. They dont like being kept dry either and like it humid, any dryer and they have moulting problems.

As for feeding an adult would be happy with a cricket a week.
I keep all of mine at room temps.

D.diadema are very docile animals and if gently nudged to walk onto your hand they are fine. I've recently got Charon grayi which are very skittish and a lot like a huntsman spider only more stubborn.

All species of tailless whip scorpion that i know of do well kept communally, they are very social. The only time they need to be seperated are gravid females from the rest of the group as they can get very protective of the young and kill other whip scorpions, although the young will live with her fine.

Hope this helps, deffiniatly get one, they are one my favorite invertebrates and amazing to keep.
