My adult female smithi likes to move her plastic plant around, as does my p.cancerides, in fact the latter moved it around so much that i removed it from her tank !

They can just suddenly decide that the layout no longer suits them and change things around. Sometimes they'll do it before a major event like a moult or making an egg sac in order to make things more secure and suitable. Is it likely that a moult may be due? It quite often is at this time of year. Bottom line is the spider didn't do it accidentally. It's moved things to exactly where it wants them to be.

Why?! The spider has made things exactly how it wants. Trust the spider, it knows best. I can appreciate it maybe doesn't look as nice but one of the best things about keeping spiders is watching them adjust their home to their liking.

I don't think so, he doesn't seem to be in premoult. He's still taking food and his bum is still quite glossy.

I get that the spider has put things where he wants them and I'm not trying to be rude but if some things have lost their function, then I think it's best to put them back where they were, like the water dish. And a plastic cactus totally blocking the entrance to the hide. I'm sure he may still be able to get into it but I'm only human and I'd worry he might get injured.

In any case, my bf moved the cactus as he thought the same as me. Everything else was left where it was.
