girlfriends dad has asked me to ask.. how can he tell if his chile rose is male or female...

You can't tell just from looking unless its a mature male. Mature male will have hooks on the second segment on his first pair of legs (not pedipalps) and the pedipalps will be rounded (boxing gloves).
Best way to tell is by studying a moult.

you need to wait for a moult, then check the moulted skin for a flappy bit

You can tell a male adult by the Tibial hooks on its front legs and the "boxing gloves" on the end of its pedipalps.
This only works for adult males though, and you might need to see afemale to compare them.

just had one aswell.. few weeks ago... gave it to a friend of family to share the hell out of her mum with :p bet its gone now :S
