Default My little redfoot :)

I thought i would share some pictures of my adorable redfoot baby, he was only in an 18' terranium when I originally got him which was so tiny he hardly had room to move so he now has a beautiful planted table with cuttlefish, hides, a hot section and a cool section which also contains a mud bath if he decided to want to go and wallow and soak up some moisture

He has a habit of wanting to pick up and eat stones, so I have to do a detailed search of his outdoor area when he goes outside to make sure its stone free as I dont want an expensive vet bill to remove stones from his tummy or a dead tortoise

He has strange eating habits and im trying to wean him off the pellets he came with, theyre the ones you saok in warm water. As apart from that and stones he keeps turfing his nose up at most fruit and vegetables I place in his food bowl:/ he wont even graze when hes outside, so I worry alot about him but im sure its just a matter of perseverence and him getting used to eating new things.

anyhow enough of me chatting forever! here are some pics

someone recently emailed me and said that he is a Guyanian redfoot and has unique carapace colourings, but i'm not sure hes just sweet to me and I adore him whatever

I use pellets with my red foots, as part of there protein intake. I use them twise a week
Other days they have 40% fruit 60% greens

Please take a poo sample to your vets and ask to test for worms and most important protazoa

Great news let us know how you get on, i hatched two reds out last week after a 5 month incubation

Please remember if you used UVB make sure its low like 5% i dont use any UVB but use vitamins instead. High UVB damages eyes
remember red foots are from dark humid forests

got to go in this afternoon I dont use UVB yet, as he gets access to alot of natural light, I do have a low one for when winter draws in and it gets darker earlier but at present its fine plus we are currently still lucky down here and have beautiful warm sunshine so he can still go out for a bit

He has a humidity inidicator in his table so I can make sure the levels are right he and his table get regular mists with water and as he likes to dig, he has a mud bath he can go and bury himself in as well as a normal water bath
