Wink Salt tear

I keep three diamondback terrapins in a brackish water tank and
I noticed that some salt is blowing out from the eyes of the smallest one,
when he was basking in the sun.
It's obviously salt coming from his body.

It's a fact that wild diamonback terrapins brow out some tears(salt water)
like marine turtles.

My diamonback terrapins grow healthy anyway.

Isnt it just the water evaporating and leaving the salt behind? Is it okay having turtles in brackish water? Ive never heard of it before! They look awesome! Ben

the water evaporated and left salt on the eye

nad Wild Diamonback terrapins range around between brackish water raiver and beach in USA

Cool, i think they are the nicest turtles I have seen! Are they commonly available? How much did they cost you, I imagine it would cost a lot more to buy them over here!

There are currently seven recognized diamondback subspecies:
the Northern Diamondback Terrapin (M.t. terrapin),
the Carolinan Diamondback Terrapin (M.t. centrata),
the Florida East Coast Diamondback Terrapin (M.t. tequesta),
the Mangrove Diamondback Terrapin (M.t. rhizophorarum),
the Mississippi Diamondback Terrapin (M.t. pileata)
the Texas Diamondback Terrapin (M.t. littoralis),
and the Ornate Diamondback Terrapin (M.t. macrospilota).

I keep currently two young Northern Diamondbacks and a ornate diamondback terrapin right now

Northern diamondback is I guess most avaraible sub-species in 7
I live in Japan you knwo that
and I have no idea the UK shop sell these turtle

Well, if you got a CB baby diamondback terrapin, you can keep it in plain
water, no brackish water from the first
It will grow well in plain water

but if you noticed some skin problem on its body and its less appetite for you feeding, you need put it in brackish water

I keep mine in brackish water from the first and nothing problem with them
They are very very friendly and big eater! lol

If you come close to a tank, the turtle will come to you and dance for "feed me! feed me! " lol

Also people say the diamondback terrapins are the most beautiful turtle

Have you ever seen a turtle with white-coloured head?

Diamond back has!

Hatchling Diamondbacks are sometimes available in the UK in small numbers, price is generally around £100-120 each, they don't tend to hang around for too long though so you have to be quick off the mark!
