No question it's a Cumberland Slider, and very well developed if that's it's true age, the long claws that distinguish it as a male don't usually develop so early, are you certain he's just over a year, or is that just how long you've had him?

One thing you need to address, he's showing a lot of scute retention which is almost certainly environment and/or diet related, if you don't sort this out it could turn into something much more serious.

Yeah it's something I'm looking into. I think it's his environment, I'm sorting it out.

We got him October last year and he was tiny and the pet shop said he was only a few weeks old but obviously I have no idea of his actual age.

I wonder if it's as well putting a sticky thread for ID's........ With pictures of their heads to help on the way and post your own if you're still confused what type of slider/cooter it is.....

I took him out and rubbed and picked his shell and it came off.
Haven't got a close up of his head yet, i'll try and get one.
