Default Hmmmm......

....sometimes how posts are answered on the forums can really surprise me.

What I mean is: one user will come on, and ask question after question, (I'm thinking of some specific threads I've seen) and people will bend over backwards to help them, even when that person completely ignores any advice they get. And yet, another user might come on and ask precisely the same questions, and get absolutely slated for not knowing what they're doing.

I've posted this here because though the threads I'm thinking of are specifically about snakes (they may not have been in this part of the forum though) it's not solely a "snake" topic. And none of the threads I'm thinking of have anything to do with the lil guy who's been posting lots over the last few days!

Why? What does it depend on? I can't see any rhyme or reason to it and it must be really off-putting for people who are just lurking around, trying to get up the courage to post and ask for advice.

I have to say, for myself, people here have been more than brilliant when I have asked questions, and I have found the advice given to be excellent, but those who are faint-of-heart might be put off...

I wondered if anyone else has a similar viewpoint?

I hate it when people get snotty or have a go at people. I am by no means perfect (far from it) but I TRY (sometimes really hard) to help people to the best of my ability.

I do sometimes cringe though and have said so before!!

You've been really good on 'those' threads I thought.

I try to keep my mouth shut, and just watch other people... not that it always works!

Yeh, I think people will often follow another persons post... so if one person goes one way, so does everyone else! lol

It's hard sometimes, but you just have to do what's in the animals interest, which is to try and be honest and helpful... sometimes people get worked up but they don't realise that having an attitude with the person asking the questions, even if they seem a bit of a dodo, doesnt help the animal at all.

It takes all sorts to make this world and lord knows I sometimes shake my head and groan.

I think what answers people get depend on who's online, there are some people who have lower tolerance levels than others, but in my book, you've just got to grit your teeth, overlook some things in order to help the animal, upsetting a poster by having a go at them is just going to make them leave, and then who knows what happens to the snake.

Once or twice I have snapped and been quite mean to people though, but it takes a lot

Yeah, I did wonder if it might be something along those lines - very few people like to be different.....

You've been great, I've read lots of threads where you've helped people (including me LOL).

It was just a general observation I was making really, more than anything else.
