Need Info please on Shipping Reps.

Hi Guys,

Has anyone ever had Reptiles Shipped over from Belgium orsurrounding areas?? to the UK??

I want to get something shipped over from Belgium to Dover and was wondering if I will need any paperwork, Any hidden charges and also were abouts in dover dock do they keep live animal shipments from the EU.

Any help would be appreciated.

It would be a lot easier if the person could drive them over, and meet you at Dover.. or if you could drive over, and meet them the other side. If one person is present and it is for pets not resale then you wouldn't have to pay fees have documentation etc.

I would imagine that if it is actually being shipped via courier there may be fees, but it is within the EU, so you may actually be exempt. I have only received from the USA at airports and then it's + 17.5%... but I think that the EU does not need to pay this tax, you would have to check.

I didn't know that Dover did live animal receipt via courier. I would think that they would have to open the box, and check it, to ensure that it was a legal animal inside (lots of tortoise and mammal smugglers out there), and airports always ask for a fee for this, and a veterinary fee for checking that the animal welfare standard is ok.

I have never heard of anyone having an animal "shipped" to Dover before though, only of people bringing animals over themselves.

As youre a beardie keeping and it's in Belgium its not Gerrit (Vilvo) stock is it? He does some fantastic beardies

It is Gerrit from Vilvo. I'm not sure on the whole shipping thing yet? I'm waiting for him to get back to me.

I have pastel leucistics and blood reds from him, top quality beardies

And they are great people to deal with in person too, very friendly & helpful.

Yeah he sounds like a top bloke!

I wanted to get a trio of different morphs. But my friend might being going to Houten in June and I think Vilvo Reps will be there too. So I might order a trio direct from him and if my friend does go to Houten then I can collect them from Catford the next day.

It's so difficult to drive there cos I've got the kids to look after But I might try to go to Hamm in sept by coach, I don't know what to do yet. I'll have to see whats happening nearer the time.

i know from usa they have to be met by a vet at airport, which is even more charges. but eu will be differant, i would imagine.

Yep Shipping from the states cost an arm & leg! And i would'nt do it again personally. So I want to get some Belgium bloodlines as I've heard their the best!

i agree there. the cost is cheaper but the time it takes is damn ridiculas.
