Default How Much?

How much would you say is an acceptable amount to spend on a pet? A days wage? A weeks? Or even a few months worth of scrimping and saving? Most of my snakes are a couple of days wage.

Ive spent upto £1500 before(not very often though  ) but usually around the £30 to £350 mark. I was going to buy a black headed python a few years back for £2500 but held off and i think the prices are slowly dropping.

money no object id get an axanthic black headed python but at £10000 cant justify at moment  maybe a jaguar x jungle carpet at £1500 and a piebald royal at £2500. just gotta win some money

I havent got anything very expensive right now (mostly because the things I like arent huge money thankfully!) but if I really wanted something I would scrimp and save for a few months to get it.
I wouldnt like to spend more than £300 on a single animal, but thats a reflection of my lacklustre bank balance. If I had the extra money or could save it up, I'd be willing to spend it.

My wifes parrot is worth around £800, but that's hers so I can use it as a bargaining chip when I want an Albino Royal... I don't think it will work though...

I think it's a very personal question, because it's not necessarily related to the amount of money a person has.

I've said here before that even if I won £ 100 million on the lottery tomorrow, I'd not pay more than £ 1000.00 for a snake. I'm sorry, but I don't think any snake should be worth more than that at a push (even the trendy morphs).

Also, I know a few people who are a lot worse off than I am, and have much more expensive snakes. For me it's a lot to do with the gratification I get from my pets rather than how mcuh it cost. For instance, I've got an adult anery corn that I paid £ 100.00 and I'm sure I would struggle to get my money back if I decided to sell her, but for me she's priceless.

I also have some moral problems, in theory I would not buy or sell animals (specially cats and dogs). I have some problems looking at them as commodity (although it doesn't upset me at all that people trade them), but I would rather rehome an animal than buy one.

Of course I do buy snakes, because there are no other ways to get certain breeds, etc, but I've rehomed some snakes in the past and would rehome again if needed.

the thing is, it costs so much money to produce and establish a new morph, that the amount is bound to be a high asking price to begin with.. they always drop though if you wat to wait a bit.

Not sure on this as there wouldn't really be a limit as to what I would spend if I had it, I said to the wife last week I wouldn't be buying anything now for a few months and have already bought a pair of Candy Canes and a BCI and my list for when I go to Hamm is growing by the minute.

I always look ahead though before buying at what they need to be housed in the future. I have started to get a couple of things that will need 4ft+ vivs, so have to look at space.

In reality though I think it would be about £300-£400, The most expensive so far was are Tort at £200. Snake wise everything has been under £100 each, with a lot at bargain prices.
