How long?
Hello
just bought some stuff for my geckos *arriving today*  baught a 60watt red bulb from tesco is that ok? or a little bright also i got a medium exo-terra water bowl. its really mucky how long should i put it in the microwave? or should i stick in some bowling water. Thanks  Pirate7.

Hi there. To be honest, I just use a standard bulb on my gecko's. I find it helps to keep the heat at a constant temperature, considering I use a heatmat. Red bulbs aren't that great a purchase in my opinion, although many will beg to differ.
I just popped my dish in the oven for a bit. 200 degrees for about 25-30mins. Watch incase there are any cracks on it beforehand though

Fiar enough, must admit the only red bulb i can find are the ones in energy rating G so i will use this one until it blows then will get a normal more energy efficient one!

Yeah, energy efficient will also help the bills, hehe.
Also, you wont have to have the light on at all times (depending on where the viv is situated). My leo's get quite alot of natural sunlight as it is, so I often find myself leaving the light off now, particularly in my new flat as it's direction gives me lots of sun. Just make sure you monitor the tempertaures throughout the first while. Once this is sorted, you can relax and enjoy the hobby. Gecko's are fantastic creatures! Enjoy!

Ok thanks dude, they're in a bit of a dark position. so ill have the light on quite a bit, But it's incredibly bright, need to get a 20watt one. the bulb is lighting up the hole room lol.

 Gecko's are primarily nocturnal, so you probably wont see much through the day, especially if its as bright as the sun in the room, lol. I had my mobile phone camera flash on the other night. Just sitting watching for ages. My little girl (Lucy) kept climbing on my male (Seph) and getting free rides off him, haha

To be honest, I don't yet have an incubator, so breeding/selling isn't something i'm really focused on. I mainly wanted some companionship for my Male. It's taken a while (quarantine etc), but things are finally settled now

ahh cool. Mine are gunna be companion. Eventually breed. The two im getting are a breeding pair, and the female has some eggs at the moment, I dont think i will hatch it 'cause i dont have anything to keep the babies in.

Aw thats ashame. I'm pretty sure you can get fairly cheap incubators nowdays anyways. I'll do some saving!
