i think you might be lucky to find frozen.. have to say a lot of the people i know with lizard eaters have to feed live. live lizards that is.
Dan might be able to help.. he has a lot of weird and wonderful species.. there is somewhere else i will pm you too.. N

dan used to be "reticulatus"
you will be hugely lucky to get a regular supply of frozen lizards, you just don't buy them frozen. you buy them live and then process them however you wish. Anoles, house geckos etc all can be had for around a quid each if you buy wholesale.

Anoles are used here (ie UK) because they are easy to breed but they actually work out quite expensive in comparison to buying in house geckos.
One of the things about feeding lizards is that they compact down in the digestive tract of the predator far more than rodents and as such what may look like a large gecko will only be a small-average meal. Feeding Candoia on geckos when young is fine but as they mature you'll be looking towards "full size" lizards, ie basilisks, draco etc etc. These are hugely expensive in comparison to geckos. My suggestion would be to start off on rodents rather than trying to make the switch with an older animal. I used to sell house geckos at £2 each in batches of 50. Anoles on the other hand can be twice that and larger lizards twice again. If you are determined to feed lizards then i can put you in touch with an importer who'll get you some but you need to be aware that moving into the world of importers brings with it an whole new side to the hobby where business (ie money) rules. If you decide to go without lizards then i have some tips that you are likely to need in order to get the best out of your snakes. |

I think that is just a preference issue.
On the whole i prefer to feed lizard eaters with lizards, purely because it is was they are designed for. However, with many it is not practical to do this due to the large size of prey needed. So, if something is going to be too big (IMO) for lizards as adults then i switch them to pinks straight away. It is easier to get a hungry snake to eat than it is one that has recently eaten, in my experience. Others, however like to get a meal in to them to provide strength so they are as healthy as can be all along. Unfortunately, in my experience, this can lead to healthy lizard eaters becoming far more unhealthy with the increased chance of starvartion over a longer period. Horses for courses ![]() |
