Have a home made viv & just wanting some ideas of what i could house in this.Was hoping to find some kind of dwarf monitor but unfortunately its not very deep specs are h56xw32 inches.The depth because of the shape are between 13 & 21in,so its more of a chameleon time tank which has been used for.Any suggestion are grateful,does not necessarily have to be a lizard even, just what you have found to be great pets that i could use this for.Ita not great pic but it shows you the shape.

Have you thought about an Arboreal snake . Not sure if it's big enough for something like a Jungle Carpet Python but maybe a GTP or ATB ?

What do you or have you had personal experience with keeping in the past?

As said, that viv is best suited to an arboreal species due to the height being much larger than the ground space.

Yeah, i was looking at tree boas,but i was hoping for something less aggressive.Have several leos & have had ball python, corn snake, chameleons etc plus exotic mammals & finches so have experience with exotics.Wanted something a bit different that i would see more of in the day to counter act the leos really.

Well GTP's and ETB's are quite a delicate species and have very specific requirements...quite the specialist type of snake.

I've been keeping snakes for around 8-9 years, and kept burms, retics, boas, numerous royals, dozens of which were CF non feeder hatchlings...along with corns, various rat snake species...etc etc...and I'm only just looking into Chondros.

Looking to get The More Complete Chondro for xmas...I've wanted a GTP for years, but never considered myself experienced enough...nor dared get one.

Hopefully in the next couple of years...perhaps towards the end of next year I'll think about getting one...after plenty more reading up.

Please don't think I'm insulting your experience, because I'm not. By all means got for a GTP or ETB...but do PLENTY of research...

They're not really a handling species, and it's not recommended they're handled at all for the first year due to their fragile structures...which is also why they're generally not sexed until older.

There are the odd few adults that are 'tame' or reasonably tempered as adults, but these are few and far between.

Other arboreal snakes you could consider are ATB's (amazon tree boas), some wonderful morphs...relatively easy to keep...although again, they do tend to be nippy.

From what I've seen and know, most arboreal snake species within the boas (and GTP's) aren't the handling type.

You could get a lovely ratsnake in there?

What length is the viv?

Most ratsnakes enjoy the space to climb, so would utilise the space and all the branches etc...as long as the floor space is also reasonable...around 4foot I would reckon for something like a grey ratsnake...

Or a black ratsnake - you can get albinos of this species...

Etc etc...

Our Koreans and russians really enjoyed climbing.

No not a fan of rat snakes,i like the head shape of pythons & boas anyway.Was hoping for more opinions on lizards to be honest & ifg any would fit.I like ackies,but they need bit more space from what i hear.Is there anything along the lines of them or frillies that dont need quite as much length but height?
