i used to have an mdf viv. i sealed the joints with acrylic sealant, then painted with emulsion, then varnished with water based floor varnish. I never had any trouble with humidity or water affecting the mdf (it had a small pool built into the floor too). Blazey bought it a while back, and now keeps her cham in it.

I have 3 MDF vivs, which were treated with Blagdon pond paint/aquarium sealant on the inside (the paint dries to a cement-like finish, and is low VOC so doesnt have any of the hideous fumes that some varnishes do), and MDF primer on the outside to stop any formaldehyde being leaked from the wood. This also means that you can paint it to match your decor

has anyone made any mdf vivs yet if so what did you find best to seal the mdf. Also if im making a stack do i need a double layer in between each viv or is a single layer enough

I am thinking of using it for a viv as the conti board chips to easy and look messy if done wrong.
