Default shed progress.. for those following..

well... my god has it been a busy time down mine... the shed is coming on, and now has inhabitants at long last...

and i have my dining room back... well nearly... just the suggies (two cages of) two big rat cages, a hamster and two tanks of mice left to go down now on the rodent side!

i can't remember where i showed you to last time.. but to recap briefly..

this was the interior, being insulated and having the partion wall built in

the rodent end is the far end as you look at it in the pic above..

(plans -rodent room is on the left as you look at this..)

once insulated... it was plasterboarded.. and then plastered.. same as you would a room in a house..

this is the reptile side at that stage.. (actually still is at this stage for the moment!)

then, painted... i chose blue and white for the rodent side..

and then the floor went down, thankfully this is the otherhalfs trade, so this is done from offcuts.. each plank is an individual piece.. its then all cut to fit.. the design was daves idea, he wanted to experiement with the wood plank effects!

your mean nerys.

its not enough teasing us with your beautiful snakes, cute skunks, and adoreable mice.

you have to go and tease some more with the shed there in!

oh yeah...
and give the poor beggers some privacy. you wouldnt like it if they stood and pointed at you "doing it" lmao.

looks like they have been very busy, with the numbers you got there!

no, not at all... the costs are around somewhere i think...

the actually shed itself, is 24x12 and cost just over £2000 - that was to have it delivered and installed.

the foundations, or footings. we did oursleves.. dug out about a foot, and then backfilled with hardcore.. re-inforcing grid.. and concrete.. i can't think how much all that cost now.. about 300-500 or so though.. and would have been more, but i would rather wheelbarrow 7 tonnes of concrete 80ft from the road, than pay for a pipe.. its not THAT hard really...

then doing the inside... insulation is the main cost.. and i got 800m² off freecycle for nothing.. thank god! i am still a bit short.. hence why the reptile side is not fully plastered yet. the floor is 288ft² i forget what the walls and ceiling are.. but we used 36 sheets of 8x4 plaster board to cover it... £100 worth of paint and plaster.. and tape.. and nails....

its not quite what my grandfather thought i would invest the money in, when he passed on... but i am sure he would be happy, if i am happy.. Mum has helped out also with costs.. but she has an ulterior motive.. she is phobic about snakes.. and won't come and visit happily till i have moved them out!!

the next major cost is going to be wiring.. and thats costing me my favourite female adult 2 kilo royal *sobs*

and then i have to find some (a lot!!) of wood for vivs. i am not using racks for adult snakes in my set up.

one day, one day..
