How long should a heat matt take to reach maximum heat? Ive had my new one from livefood.co.uk switched on now for about 15 mins and i cant tell if its made any difference at all yet. Ive tried it with the Heaterstat and without the heaterstat. Any clues?

they sometimes take a while to warm up.. leave it plugged in without the stat for about an hour and go and check it.. you should notice it is noticably warm / hot.. then you'll know if its working or not.. We usually have a couple of spares here so if its not working right we can probably pop one round to you untill you get a replacement if you need it for something

Its not urgent just yet mate, but thanks for the offer. Its for my snake when i eventually get it. Im just giving everything a test.

ah cool well as i said, just leave it plugged in without a stat for an hour or so and you will know if its working or not..

By the way dude, do you have to keep reloading pages on this site? I see that some of my posts have been replied to and i go into the post, and i have to reload to see the new replies. Same in the PM box too. Do you have that problem?

used to have that problem on the laptop but it fixed itself, never worked out what was wrong.. *shrugs*

The matt is starting to feel slightly warmer now

lol i thought that at 1st.

put a heavy book on top of it. they dont realy "heat up" because they use infa red and all the beams (you cant see) go up into the air. but when you put somthing on top of it, they get hot (beams bounsing back etc.)

put a book on it for 15 mins and it will heat up! trust me

i thought mine was broke at 1st

Its all good now. Yeah its confusing when you dont know the science behind it. I was waiting for ages for some heat to come through, i even sent an email to livefood to ask them whats up with it. I feel a bit silly now, but alls well.
