Default expense?????

Hi,

Just wondering (cos i dont pay the bills) how expensive do you think running 5 uv lights and 5 basking lights for 12 hours a day.

How much do you think this would work out monthly?????? lol i know most people probably have no idea, but its just been annoying me.

(like one of those questions you cant figure the answer out too...)

Not sure but it can be worked out, for instance I know that a 60watt bulb used 45 kWh a month but this link may help
Electricity Running Cost Calculator from UK Power

Easy to work out, just add up the combined wattage of the bulbs, multiply by the number of hours they are on in a month, and divide by 1000 to give Kilowatt Hours (kWh).
Then look on your electricity bill to see how much they charge you per kWh.

e.g. if your combined wattage was 1000W/1kW (we'll assume you have some pretty powerful UVs!), and in a 30 day month your lights were on for 360 hours, that's 360 kWh per month.
If your electricity costs 10p per kWh then the cost per month will be £36.

In reality it will be much less than this, it's unlikely that your bulbs are consuming much more than half that amount of electricity, and the charge per kWh is probably less too.
