Default Cricket Tub Hitchikers

Hi guys.
What are the black things with hairs on them, that look like casters used for fishing, and are almost exactly the same size (maggot=caster=fly)? they look fuzzy in appearnace almost and are (presumably) soft to touch.
Also, what else have you discovered that's hatched a ride with the crickets? had a big spider a few months back, scared the hell out of me.
James

they are larvae of the dermestid beetle...like spike said used to eat the dead crickets when the crickets are being bred...makes them smell less..i am currently breeding these little critters cos i can't stand the smell of crickets and the more you have in with them the less they smell..

yep also found spiders in with crickets/fruit flies/bluebottles/ and once i found a centipede!

The spiders you find in the tubs are known as crab spiders, they are totally harmless but do eat a few of the crickets though!
